Ashland County, WI

Ashland County is a beautiful place to live in Wisconsin. It is located on the shore of Lake Superior, the largest and deepest of the Great Lakes. It has a rich history and culture, influenced by the Native American tribes that have lived here for centuries. It also has a diverse natural environment, with forests, wetlands, rivers, streams and waterfalls.

Enjoy the Outdoors

You can go fishing, boating, kayaking or swimming on Lake Superior or one of the many inland lakes. You can hike, bike or ski on the trails that crisscross the county. You can admire the scenic views and wildlife that abound in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest or Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. You can also visit some of the stunning waterfalls that dot the landscape, such as Morgan Falls, Copper Falls or Potato River Falls.

Celebrate the Community Culture

Another great thing about living in Ashland County is experiencing its culture and heritage. You can learn about the history and traditions of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians at their reservation or cultural center. You can explore the historic buildings and landmarks that tell the stories of Ashland’s past as a lumbering and mining town.
